MARIE BARNEY BOSTON SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION (MBBSF) named after its Founder, Dr. Marie Barney Boston, a devout Christian, and advocate for education established in 2016. Dr. Boston’s daughter, Dr. Brenda Boston-Hudson cofounder, built the foundation’s legacy and defined its approach to focus on identifying and filling knowledge gaps that, if closed, could help the Foundation make significant progress. This foundation plans to offer several scholarships annually to students who without financial scholarship assistance would not be able to pursue their educational dreams.

Under their leadership, the foundation has launched three major efforts:

1)To increase the number of disadvantaged students attending college through scholarship and donations. In turn, this increases the number of doctoral candidates, professionals, and post graduate candidates in disadvantaged populations.

2)To decrease the number of disadvantage youth lacking formal education, leadership skills and development, which reinforces the idea that scholarships assist students plan for college, especially among certain minority groups. African American and Hispanic students were less likely to attend the university, if they did not receive the amount of financial assistance they had hoped for.

3)To increase the number of disadvantaged individuals in leadership policy making positions which can in turn affect their communities, families, and individual lives.

Application Deadline May 31st, 2023

If applicant is awarded a scholarship, he/she must make contact with the foundation (every 3 months) for the calendar year the scholarship is awarded. This contact is necessary to update the foundation regarding his/her grades, status and will allow the foundation the opportunity to assist and/or mentor him/her. If the recipient does NOT comply with the above requirements, then he/she will not be considered for the future scholarship awards.
